Tamilnadu Based Charitable Trust Opened Animal Hospital for Villages
Veterinarians and animal hospital in the country is suffering from various challenges for the proper care and management of domesticated and stray animals. The Animal welfare Board of
India (AWBI) encourages and provides support to set up animal Care Centres . During the year 2019 , the Board has succeed to motivate animal welfare organisations to setup veterinary hospitals in remote and rural areas .In this series , after Haryana , Tamilnadu is the Second State where rural veterinary hospital is opened by AWBI recognized animal welfare organization for the service of homeless animals. This hospital is inaugurated by the Chairman of the Animal Welfare Board of India and it's Secretary. The AWBI Chairman , Dr. O.P. Chaudhary said that the establishment of the veterinary hospitals in rural area will boost the the animal health and farmers productivity. Such activities will inspire the other animal welfare activists and animal welfare organisations too.
Dr. O.P. Chaudhary, Joint Secretary(NLM & AW), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying , Government of India said that this organisation- "Jeevakarunya Animal Welfare Charitable Trust - Animal Hospital and Rescue Centre" is doing tremendous work for homeless ,uncared animal and this hospital will be helpful in terms of animal welfare activities in the time to come.He hoped for better service and activities of animal welfare will be carried out in selfless manner to save their life. He said that these activities will certainly will make more aware the public to be more kind and compassionate which will help to prevent the cruelty on animals. He also said taht the AWBI provides financial support to animal welfare organisations and goshalas for construction of shelters, care and management of stray animals like cattle , dogs , cats and other animals.The Board also supports Animal Birth Control(ABC) Programme for canines towards population control of stray animals. For care of animal health and rescue operations , the Board provides ambulance facilities.
Appreciating the local people and villagers of the Nagarcoil district of Tamilnadu, Dr. Neelam Bala, Secretary of the Board said that without the cooperation and support such kind of establishment cannot be done. She said that "Jeevakarunya Animal Welfare Charitable Trust - Animal Hospital and Rescue Centre" is truly named "Jeevakarunya" which defines its virtues - the kindness or compassion to all the living creatures. The Board supports all the animal welfare organisations throughout country.The Board has come forward to support organisations working in this manner and follow the right path of animal welfare.
She has appreciated the aims and objectives of Dr.T. Vasantha Lakshmi Ravi Kumar, Chairperson of the Hospital and said that this Hospital is established due to her nature of kindness and compassion to all animals. Secretary has recalled the directions of the Supreme Court of India wherein mentioned the provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals(PCA) Act 1960 to prevent the cruelities on animals by implementing the animal welfare norms stated under criteria of the " Five Freedom" of animal welfare for their care and concern.
During the visit of the Chairperson of the Board , the district administration arranged a meeting of the departments concerned to ensure the the implementation of the animal welfare measures and the rules. The Chairman AWBI directed the district administration to pay the proper attention for the functioning of the SPCA , Kanyakumari as per rules and District Magistrate, Shri Prashant M. Wadnere assured for proper functioning of Society for Prevention of Crulety to Animals.
